How to Install a Bosch SHX45P06UC Dishwasher

allthumbsdiy-imags-installing-bosch-dishwasher-a10-fl

I have had so many problems with my GE Profile dishwasher that I finally threw my hands up and replaced it with a brand new Bosch dishwasher.

Unlike most dishwasher installations, I am going to install mine with the idea that I will need to service it frequently in the future. That means installing extra long water supply hose and convert the wiring from permanent connection to a 3-prong plug connection.

MATERIALS

STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE

STEP 0 – Make sure the circuit breaker is turned off
STEP 1 – Uninstall old dishwasher (click here for my previous posting on this topic)
STEP 2 – Unpack dishwasher and check for any missing parts and/or physical damage
STEP 3 – Take the bottom access panel off from the dishwasher and locate water supply inlet
STEP 4 – Thread Teflon tape onto the elbow fitting. Fitting will turn clockwise to tighten so wrap Teflon tape in the opposite direction 3-4 times so it does not bunch up as you screw in the fitting
STEP 5 – Hand tighten then using an adjustable pliers, turn extra 1/4 turn (make sure to NOT damage the threads)
STEP 6 – Wrap Teflon tape onto the 3/8″ thread 3-4 times, using the same method in Step 4.
STEP 7 – Install braided hose.

STEP 8 – Install power plug cord; L(line)=black, N(neutral)=white,G(ground)=green, making sure to sure appropriate wire nuts (I had to pigtail the black wire because it was too short);
STEP 9 – Install drain hose using worm gear hose clamp;
STEP 10 – Route hoses and cords inside the groove under dishwasher (awesome feature!)
STEP 11 – Route hoses into cabinet then plug in the dishwasher

STEP 12 – Carefully slide in the dishwasher, making sure none of the hoses and power cord get kinked;
STEP 13 – Install under counter or side cabinet screws and/or brackets. Because my existing GE Profile holes did not match up, I used side brackets and screws.
STEP 14 – Attach drain and water supply hoses under the cabinet
STEP 15 – Turn on the circuit breaker, then do a sample test run to check for leaks.

"Thread Teflon tape onto the elbow fitting. Fitting will turn clockwise to tighten so wrap Teflon tape in the opposite direction 3-4 times so it does not bunch up as you screw in the fitting"

I think you mean to wrap the tape in the same direction, not opposite.
